snake-goodbyeAll good things must always come to an end, and I clearly remember my first exposure to the Metal Gear Solid franchise on the PSOne, as the radio went, “Snake! Snake! Snaaaaaaaakkeeeee….!” each time I run out of lives. Well, that was the voice of David Hayter, who had for the longest time played the voice of Snake, but he will no longer do so in the future after “announcing” of his retirement from the role in a rather touching letter to fans.

David Hayter’s letter does confirm the fact that he is not involved in any way with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Of course, David did pen down his very own disappointment, and absolutely loves his role in the Metal Gear franchise. Well, it was not his choice not to play the role of Snake’s in the upcoming The Phantom Pain (perhaps we will see a resurrected Darth Maul appear?), and who else is big enough to fill up his vocal chords?
