Tactilize: Create and Share Visual Cards from the iPad

Tactilize-iPad-01

Tactilize was introduced back in September at TC 50 and it was globally released as a public beta in December 2012. This cool (and free) application allows anyone to create compelling interactive visual “cards” with a mix of photos, text, videos and links directly from the iPad or the desktop browser.

Tactilize 3.0will launch soon in the App store, the new version will feature a brand new user interface, full profile pages and social browsing which will allow users to follow each other. Content can be imported from your computer or from various sites such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, Box and many other sources.

As a graphic designer, I was immediately drawn to this application and I could not resist trying it. The user interface is highly intuitive and within minutes, I was able to create a card using photos stored in my computer, then it was easy to add text and links. Once a card is finished, you can publish it on Tactilize and share it via various social networking sites including Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr and LinkedIn.

Then you can flick trough all the published cards from the iPads, thanks to the great touch interface (see screen on the iPad in the photo above).

Tactilize can be used to create and share interactive stories, and the result is highly immersive and engaging. We can imagine that people with no prior experience in web design can use it as a promotion tool to sell their products or services. Fashion designers or photographers could build their entire portfolios in Tactilize, to show their work directly from their iPads during interviews.

See above the card I created with a few photos shot in Seoul last September, and see below the editing screen were I was able to create and update the card from the browser.

According to the company, Tactilize now reaches 200,000+ iPad installs and 110,000+ active users from over 155 countries.
