umeox-m5Here is a way to get a quick ticket to the hall of fame in any field – by breaking existing records with your product. When it comes to smartphones, there are many different categories to choose from, largest display, highest resolution, highest pixel density, fastest processor, highest number of cores, thinnest smartphone, the list goes on. Well, the Umeox X5 that hails from China certainly looks forward to making its mark in everyone’s consciousness in due time by working on being the “world’s thinnest smartphone” when it is released.

The Umeox X5 intends to measure 5.6mm in terms of thickness, at least according to the folks over at GizChina (who happened to supply the image that you see above as well). At 5.6mm, that would make it 0.58mm thinner compared to the rumored dimension that has been bandied around for Huawei’s Ascend P6, although it remains to be seen for just how long will Umeox be able to retain that title. Of course, being thin in form factor would be useless if the hardware is not capable of living up to expectations, no?
