Samsung’s flagship Android smartphones have always touted AMOLED displays, this trend started when the company released the first Galaxy S smartphone. So naturally it was believed that the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 phablet will also have a AMOLED display. However according to a new report from ETNews, Samsung’s suppliers are facing manufacturing issues which might cause the company to release a variant of Galaxy Note 3 that has a LCD display.

It goes without saying that this particular report is unconfirmed, so we can’t really be sure of LCD display touting Galaxy Note 3 is actually going to see the light of day. Apparently production constraints are compelling Samsung to make this switch, with the LCD variant reportedly accounting for 10 percent of all Galaxy Note 3 units produced. These units are likely to remain specific to certain markets. A Japanese company is said to provide these LCD panels, it could be Sharp, which makes some sense because Samsung has a 3 percent stake in that company. Expected to be announced at IFA 2013 in Berlin this September, the Galaxy Note 3 might tout the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and may also have support for LTE-Advanced.
