Earlier today the Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet was announced. Touting a 6.4 inch display, this phablet is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 800 processor. It looks like this device might end up Samsung’s Galaxy Note series a run for its money, but for that to happen, it needs to release first. Sony says that the Xperia Z Ultra will be released in the third quarter, and Sony France tweeted that the smartphone will approximately cost around 729 Euros.

Given that its a premium Android device, a high price point for this device has always been expected. Sony Netherlands says that the device will be offered for 719 Euros. So for now it is evident that the Xperia Z Ultra will cost upwards of 700 Euros in Europe, but that isn’t exactly a foolproof yardstick to judge what this device might cost in the U.S. Hopefully Sony will unveil pricing and availability information for North America in the coming weeks, it is not known right now if any carrier in the country will be offering it on contract. Xperia Z Ultra is expected to be in stores towards the end of August, in Europe.
