Apple’s much rumored ‘iRadio’ music streaming service was launched yesterday. Its officially called iTunes Radio and will be publicly released this fall. Basically it allows users to listen to online radio stations, and if they like a particular track, they’ll be given the option to purchase it. Twitter #music is apparently going to get its own radio station in iTunes Radio. #music leverages tweets to help users discover new music, and its iOS app already allows users to purchase tracks through iTunes. Now it seems that this integration is being taken to a whole new level.

Apple has had a pretty good working relationship with Twitter, it was actually the first internet service that was deeply integrated in iOS 5. The integration of #music in iTunes Radio will have the micro-blogging site’s service, which is struggling to take off. Having its own radio station in iTunes Radio will provide this service with increased visibility, all while Apple pays the cost of streaming music from major record labels. It remains to be seen whether such level of integration will be awarded to other third party music discovery services as well.
