This past week we have been hearing a lot of rumors about a new BlackBerry OS7 smartphone that is going to be released soon. Today at the company’s Annual General Meeting of shareholders, BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins confirmed that they are indeed going to release an OS7 smartphone. Heins did not go in to details regarding specifications, pricing and availability. It is believed that this smartphone will only be made available in limited markets.

The CEO also said that BlackBerry will have no more than six devices on sale at any given point in time. Currently the new devices it is offering include the BB10 powered Z10, Q10 and the Q5. Its expected to release multiple new devices this year, possibly even a new flagship Z10 successor called the A10. Just yesterday we featured some purported leaked pictures of the BlackBerry 9720, which is said to be the new OS7 device the ailing Canadian manufacturer is going to launch. BlackBerry still has some pull in mid-range emerging markets where there is increased demand for affordable smartphones, this device may perform well in such markets.
