Recon Instruments, an award winning technology company that is the name behind what is the world’s first consumer Heads-up Displays (HUD) for sports, has just introduced Recon Jet, where the high-performance HUD has been integrated on sports sunglasses. Apart from that, there is also the Pilot Edition, which arrived with a $100 discount and early shipment for those who placed a pre-order, although the entire shebang has sold out shortly after it has been introduced. Upon seeing the success of the Pilot Edition, Recon Instruments has decided to roll out another early batch of Recon Jet that will ship sometime in February 2014. Bear in mind that pre-orders are available in extremely limited quantity, and early release units happen to be accepted on a ‘first come, first serve basis’ at $599 a pop.

Recon Jet will arrive with the relevant applications which have been specially designed for cyclists and triathletes, using wireless connectivity to third party devices (over ANT+ and Bluetooth) so that you, the athlete will be able to access critical information such as heart rate, cadence and power output. Armed with a comprehensive suite of on-board sensors, it also delivers a full portfolio of precision performance stats which will comprise of speed, pace, distance, time, and vertical ascent among others. The dual-core 1GHz processor should be able to get most of its tasks done without much hassle. Gotta love the design for sure!
