iPhone 5S Fingerprint Sensor “Confirmed” By WSJ

Screen-Shot-2013-09-09-at-4.48.23-PM-640x481In a matter of hours, Apple will be taking the wraps off the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. One of the main features of the iPhone 5S would be its fingerprint sensor that is expected to be embedded in the home button, and leaked specifications and a user manual has pretty “confirmed” that the feature is a sure-thing, but just in case for those who are still a bit skeptical, The Wall Street Journal has come forward and stated that their sources have confirmed to them that the fingerprint sensor is a real thing and will make its debut with the iPhone 5S.

This isn’t all that surprising given that not too long ago an Apple patent revealed the fingerprint sensor’s plans and how it would be embedded in the home button, and how it could work together with NFC. Apple’s acquisition of AuthenTec, a company that specializes in biometric security, led to speculation that this particular form of security could debut in future iOS devices as well. As it stands it is expected that the home button of the iPhone 5S will sport a metallic ring around it which will be part of the sensor. In any case we won’t have to wait too long to see if the rumor pans out, so check back with us in a few hours for all the details!
