Bamboo Moto X To Ship Earlier Than Expected

bamboo-wood-moto-xAfter months of teasing, Motorola has finally announced that the Moto X smartphone can now be customized with a bamboo backplate option, giving the handset a rather unique and warm look, which is admittedly a nice departure from the usual plastic/metal/glass that we have been accustomed to these days. Unfortunately while this was good news, the bad news is that only bamboo is available, meaning that for now, the other wood variants are not available. The price was also more expensive than we had expected with Motorola charging $100 for the option instead of $50 as previously thought. There is also a 20 day waiting period meaning that customers would have to wait until next year to get their phones. Well the good news is that for those who rushed out to place their order, it seems as though Motorola might have found a way to deliver your handsets a little earlier than expect. In an email Motorola sent out to some of their customers, they write, “We previously estimated your Moto X with Bamboo to ship in January, however we’ve been able to work some magic. Your Moto X with Bamboo will now be delivered to you on or before 12/27.  No need to call us—we’ll keep you updated on our progress and let you know when it has shipped via email.” We should note that this might not necessarily apply to new customers who are placing their orders now. Perhaps Motorola had limited batches that they reserved for early birds. Motorola’s Moto Maker website still lists a 20-day wait, so if you want your bamboo Moto X, be prepared to wait.
