13-inch Non-Retina MacBook Pro Could Be Discontinued This Year [Rumor]

macbook_line_oct13-800x541It wasn’t too long ago that Apple introduced Retina MacBook Pros into the mix. They were basically your typical MacBook Pro, but would sport a Retina display instead, thus offering customers with a pretty damn sharp laptop screen.

However these Retina versions of the MacBook Pro were a little more expensive than their non-Retina counterparts, and now according to a report from DigiTimes, it seems that in the future if you wanted a MacBook Pro, you’d have to go Retina or perhaps go for the MacBook Air or a different brand entirely.

According to DigiTimes’ report, they are claiming that Apple will be discontinuing the 13-inch non-Retina MacBook Pro later this year in favor of an all-Retina lineup. After all it was just last year that Apple discontinued the 15-inch non-Retina MacBook Pro, and before that Apple had put an end to the 17-inch MacBook Pro model, with 15-inch models being the biggest size that the company offered.

In a way we guess this is to be expected as Apple would eventually phase out non-Retina models, but with the non-Retina model costing $100 cheaper than the Retina one, we’re sure there are customers out there who would have liked to save that $100. Then again, $100 for a Retina version might not be such a bad thing, but what do you guys think?

Would you rather fork out that extra $100, or do you think that Retina is not necessary and would rather save that $100?
