90 Million iPhone 6 Units Expected To Be Shipped In 2014

iphone_6_conceptLater this year, presumably during Q3 2014, Apple will launch the iPhone 6. We can only assume this is the case based on previous releases in the past, but interestingly enough it seems that the iPhone 6 is one to look forward to.

Sure there are a lot of reasons to look forward to the iPhone 6, but according to the rumors, Apple could introduce a larger screen in the iPhone 6 that would finally put it in competition with Android devices which has long had large screens with high resolutions. To that extent, it seems that with this larger iPhone, Apple could be looking to ship as many as 90 million iPhone 6 units in 2014 alone.

This is according to DigiTimes who is citing a report from the Chinese-language Commercial Times publication. The report claims that Foxconn, the manufacturer of Apple’s iPhones and other Apple-related products, is expected to land an order for 90 million iPhone 6 units in 2014.

It is also because of this that analysts are predicting that Apple’s smartphone shipments will actually be on the rise in 2014, a rise of 23% to be exact, versus the expected 13% growth that was posted last year.

Of course as we all know, shipped units doesn’t necessarily translate into units sold, but if Apple is confident enough to ship 90 million units, chances are they expect to sell a lot more iPhones this year.

Either way it remains to be seen if the iPhone 6 will truly pack the hardware that all the rumors are claiming, but what do you guys think? If the iPhone 6 really packs all the rumored hardware, would it be a phone you would be interested in purchasing?
