If there was one thing we were surprised to find out about the LG G2 was its camera. LG phones haven’t exactly been known for their cameras (not that they’re bad, it’s just not a feature LG is known for), the LG G2’s camera proved to be pretty good. In fact its low-light performance was surprisingly decent, outshining phones like the iPhone.

Now the good news is that if you thought that the LG G2 camera could do with some improvement, you’re in luck because thanks to a camera mod, you won’t have to hope and wait for the LG G3 to bring those improvements that you have been asking for.

Thanks to XDA member, xdabbeb, he has created a mod for the LG G2 that has greatly enhanced the camera’s capabilities. What his mod does is that it will now allowing users to shoot video in the 4K UHD format at 30fps, or they can also choose to shoot at 720p HD at 1220fps. This is compared to before where the highest resolution offered was 1080p Full HD at 60fps.

The mod will also allow users to enable HDR while taking videos and raise the ISO up to 1600 for stills. Electronic image stabilization is another feature offered by the mod in addition to the camera’s hardware optical image stabilization. Now we can only imagine that this mod should work with most, if not all, LG G2 variants, but if you’d like to double check and find out more, head on over to the XDA forums for the details.

Once again we have to warn you guys when it comes to installing mods or tweaking your phone beyond what the manufacturer had intended. If you do decided to proceed with the installation of the mod, you should probably make a backup just in case something goes wrong.
