Nikon 1 J4 Is Official

j4-silver-3qJust yesterday we reported that a recent photo and specs of the alleged Nikon 1 J4 camera was leaked online, and for those who are interested in Nikon’s mirrorless lineup, you might be interested to learn that the Nikon 1 J4 has since been officially announced, although at this point in time pricing and availability in the US remains unknown, although if it is anything like its successor, it could be priced around the $600-$800 region.

As per the rumors, the Nikon 1 J4 does indeed pack an 18MP sensor, an 18.4MP sensor to be exact. In fact it’s actually the same sensor that is being used by the Nikon 1 V3, but it’s also an upgrade over the Nikon 1 J3’s 14.3MP sensor, but then again megapixels aren’t everything but we guess from a marketing perspective, it does matter.

The camera will also feature Nikon’s Expeed 4A processing engine with a hybrid autofocus system and a continuous shooting speed of 20 frames per second. For those who are interested in its video capabilities, the camera will also be able to capture videos in 1920×1080 resolution at 60fps, but it is possible to go 120fps if you’re willing to drop to a HD resolution instead.

The Nikon 1 J4 will also feature built-in WiFi that will allow users to wireless transfer photos or videos, and interestingly enough, Nikon has also changed the memory card format of the camera so that it will now support the microSD card format as well, even though SD cards appear to be the standard for cameras at the moment. We’re not sure why but if you have an microSD card lying around, you should be able to use it with the camera.

Like we said pricing and availability remain unknown for now, but for the Japanese version of the camera, it is expected to be shipped with a 10-30mm lens.
