T-Mobile Halts Galaxy S5 Update Due To Issues

samsung-galaxy-s5-review-025Last week we reported that T-Mobile had begun rolling out an update for the Samsung Galaxy S5, but if you have yet to receive your update and you’re wondering why that is, it is because T-Mobile has temporarily halted the rollout of it. This is according to an update on T-Mobile’s website which reads, “The Samsung Galaxy S 5 Software update to G900TUVU1ANE5 via OTA or Kies has been paused. This post will be updated when further details are available.”

While the update did fix the SMS/MMS bug that Galaxy S5 users were experiencing on the devices, unfortunately it also brought about other problems which is why T-Mobile decided to halt the rollout for now. According to reports from users who had received the update and updated their phones, they experienced a slow down in download speeds along with decreased LTE coverage.

Not everyone who downloaded the update has experienced these issues, but we guess it must have been serious enough for T-Mobile to pull the plug, at least for now. No word on when T-Mobile will be releasing an update that will address the speed issues, but as it stands their support page has yet to be updated, so we guess Galaxy S5 owners will just have to wait for it.

It doesn’t seem like a very good trade-off, especially if you receive a lot of SMS/MMS. At the same time slow or decreased LTE isn’t exactly fun either. So, any of our readers experienced the speed slow downs in their update?
