HTC Butterfly 2 4G Spotted At Taiwan’s NCC

htc-butterfly-sA couple of years ago, HTC launched the HTC Butterfly handset. The following year, there were rumors that HTC had planned a sequel called the HTC Butterfly 2 4G. The device has yet to be officially announced, although the closest thing to it being official was the fact that it was spotted on the AnTuTu benchmarks.

Well the good news for those who are still doubting its existence is that the device in question has recently been spotted at the NCC, which is Taiwan’s equivalent of the FCC. The NCC filing has basically confirmed the name of the device, which is the HTC Butterfly 2 4G. It also seems to suggest that the launch of the handset might not be too far off, although we guess we’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves.

Some have speculated that the HTC Butterfly 2 4G might not see a release outside of Asia, but then again HTC has yet to officially announce anything yet, so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information. Now for those who might have forgotten or not seen the news go by, the AnTuTu benchmarks for the HTC Butterfly 2 4G revealed some potential specs of the device.

For starters it revealed that it would come with a 5-inch 1080p Full HD display. It also revealed that the handset will be powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. The phone would also come with a 13MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. It sounds a lot like the HTC One M8 with some minor differences, so we have to say we’re interested to see how HTC might position the device.
