iPhone 6 Price Increase Rumored

Earlier today Apple finally confirmed when it will be unveiling the new iPhones. Invites were sent out today by the company for an event that will take place on September 9th. This date had already been rumored quite a few times before Apple sent out the invites. The possibility that this year the company might increase the price of its smartphone has been debated upon a lot over the past few weeks. Sources within a Spanish carrier claim that the iPhone 6 price will certainly be more than its predecessor.

This report comes from MovilZone which claims to have sources inside major Spanish carrier Telefonica. Apparently the carrier is still hammering out the details of a pricing plan with Apple but it expects the company to charge more for both iPhone models.

Apple is expected to unveil two new iPhone models this year, the major difference between the two is believed to be the display size, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch to be precise. It is reported that the former will cost €750 and the latter €950, that translates to roughly $980 and $1,250 respectively. However that’s not indicative of what the price might in the U.S.

As far as the U.S. pricing is concerned previous rumors have claimed that there will be a $100 increase in the price for both models. Surveys have also showed that customers are willing to absorb the price raise provided that both new iPhones bring larger displays.

Apple hasn’t confirmed iPhone 6 prices at this point in time so obviously we will have to wait until September 9th to find out for sure. A new report yesterday claimed that the new iPhones will start shipping from September 19th.
