BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 Stops By The FCC

P9983_FCCCome September 17th, BlackBerry is expected to take the wraps off the Porsche Design P’9983 BlackBerry smartphone. The Canadian company has worked multiple times with Porsche in the past so this collaboration hardly comes as a surprise. That being said, in the meantime it looks like the upcoming phone has recently made its way to the FCC for approval ahead of its announcement.

Unfortunately apart from revealing the supported bands for the handset,  not much else was revealed in the FCC filing, but then again with less than a week to go, we guess we can remain patient. In the meantime we suppose the FCC filing is just another sign that the handset is one step closer to approval.

Now for those who are curious as to what sort of specs we could be looking at, previously leaked specifications have suggested that we could be looking at a 720×720 display. It is also rumored to be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, a QWERTY keyboard layout, a 2,100mAh battery, 64GB of onboard storage, and will come with BlackBerry OS 10.3.8 preinstalled.

Given that previous Porsche Design handsets have been given a rather hefty price tag, we don’t expect that the P’9983 will be any different, so unless you’re willing to drop a couple of thousand, chances are this isn’t the phone for you.
