blackberry-p9983-launch

There have been many rumors that BlackBerry will be releasing a premium device this year. The company has a history of teaming up with Porsche Design to create devices that cost over $2000. That’s exactly what the BlackBerry P’9983 is going to be. Not much is known about the device for sure at this point in time but we have seen some leaked images and purported specifications. Those who have been waiting to spend a few grand on this can mark September 17th in their calendars, that’s when the P’9983 is going to be officially unveiled.

The September 17th event for Porsche Design Blackberry P’9983 takes place a week before BlackBerry holds three events in London, Toronto and Dubai simultaneously to mark the launch of the BlackBerry Passport, its new flagship and possibly the most innovative BB device the company has churned out in the past few years.

BlackBerry has sent out invites today for the P’9983 launch event which will take place in Dubai on September 17th. The invite itself doesn’t reveal much about the device so we’ll have to wait until the event to find out more information about it.

Purported specifications include a 720×720 pixel resolution OLED display with a 1.5GHz dualcore processor and 2GB RAM. BlackBerry OS 10.3, 8 megapixel rear and 2 megapixel front camera, full QWERTY physical keyboard, 2,100mAh battery and 64GB onboard storage are also believed to be present.

Since it carries the Porsche Design label, and will likely be crafted from expensive materials, don’t expect the device to cost less than a few thousand dollars.
