Some might find it really hard to believe that less than a decade ago there was no widespread penetration of the smartphone. Most people relied upon their trusty flip phones which at one time were all the range. Since the advent of touchscreen based smartphones the market has shifted from old form factors to simpler shapes with only a few buttons. There might still be people out there who would want nothing more than a flip phone and LG may have something for them up its sleeve.

The company has created a dedicated website which points towards the possible launch of a new smartphone based on the flip form factor. The device will apparently be called the LG Wine Smart. LG Wine is the company’s series that includes flip phones which are sold in the U.S., Canada, Japan and South Korea.

This new website about the LG Wine Smart is entirely in Korean which could hint at this point in time the company may not immediately bring it to the West. The website doesn’t reveal much about the LG Wine Smart’s specifications or features, including information about the OS it runs on, but it is said that the device has a special hardware button for some special feature.

We will only know what the LG Wine Smart is actually capable of once the official announcement has been made. LG may unveil the device formally later this week, we will let you know when that happens.
