xolo-q1020When it comes to cheap and highly affordable smartphones, most of the time it would mean that such handsets do feature some low class materials, or rather, cheap plastic that do not ooze with style no matter how much you try to make that happen. With the Xolo Q1020 from India, however, things are very different. Xolo happens to be one of the top local phone manufacturers in the world’s second most populous country, and with the Xolo Q1020, it is said to come dressed in a kind of wooden finish – definitely not the kind of material that one would expect from a handset that costs under the $200 mark.

Of course, until an actual unit falls into our laps, one cannot really make a solid conclusion on the overall quality of the handset other than the fact that a wooden finish always exudes a certain sense of class, not to mention it is a material that is rarely, or never, seen on an entry level device. Apart from the wooden finished edges, the Xolo Q1020 looks set to deliver its features that would clearly place it in the mid-range scheme of things, such as Android 4.4 KitKat as the mobile operating system of choice, a 5” IPS display with 720 x 1280 pixels, a 13MP camera at the back with LED flash and Sony Exmor RS sensor, a front-facing 2MP camera, a quad-core MediaTek 1.3GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and a 2100 mAh battery.
