When we think of protective phone cases, we think of cases made out of extremely hard and resistant material, material that can help absorb shock when dropped, and so on. We rarely think of glass as such a material to be used in protective phone cases, but that’s exactly what the folks at Amzer have done.
The company has recently rolled out a new Crusta case designed for smartphones and according to them, it is the first phone case to be made with tempered glass. Of course the entire case won’t be made from glass, but rather it will come with a built-in screen protector and back panel that features a hardness rating of 9.
The screen protector is based on Amzer’s Kristal Tempered Glass that will wrap around the edge of the phone, even those of the iPhone 6. The edge of the case will be made from impact resistant thermoplastic rubber materials which will apparently be able to withstand drops as high as 6-feet.
Amzer’s Crusta is priced at $45 and is available in a variety of color combinations, and also available for a variety of different phones including the iPhone 5/5s, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3, and Amazon’s Fire Phone.
