canon-elph-170-1[CES 2015] Compact digital cameras are supposed to be carried around – which is why there is the word “compact” in there in the first place. Having said that, both the Canon PowerShot ELPH 170 IS and the Canon PowerShot ELPH 160 happen to be digital cameras which can be taken with you just about anywhere – and yet it will boast of 12x and 8x Optical Zoom lenses, respectively, alongside the ability to capture video in 720p HD quality. In other words, either one of these models will be the ideal handset for those who are always on the move – and want something simple to use to capture casual shots of events or people, and are not on the lookout for high powered controls and abilities.

The PowerShot ELPH 170 IS will have a 20MP CCD sensor, which allows folks to snap photos as well as videos that are not lacking in quality, although you can be sure that the level of customization and options will be a whole lot less as opposed to a system camera or a DSLR shooter. In Smart AUTO mode, the camera will pick its optimal settings so that the best possible image is taken at all times. Other creative effects such as Fisheye, Toy Camera and Monochrome have also been thrown into the mix so that you can add some variety into your snapped photos.

Expect the PowerShot ELPH 170 IS and PowerShot ELPH 160 to retail for $149.99 and $119.99, respectively, with both models hitting the market in February.
