Je Suis Charlie App: 1 Hour Approval After Email To Tim Cook

jscThere are times when things need to be expedited – and the Je Suis Charlie app is one such example, where an email sent to Apple CEO Tim Cook saw the app approved within an hour of its submission. 9to5mac.com claimed that French news agency Nice-Matin fired an email to Tim Cook, asking for Apple to expedite the review of the Je Suis Charlie app, where users can map their location with the corresponding emblem in order to show their support for Charlie Hebdo. This emblem is a black and white line drawing of a pencil, all within an upheld fist.

An assistant allegedly gave a reply within 10 minutes, promising a review within the hour. This is definitely an extraordinary request under extraordinary circumstances, where the standard amount of time required for the approval of new apps happens to in the region of 10 days thereabouts.

The Je Suis Charlie app is now available on iTunes – for free, of course. It is as sparse and simple as it can be, sporting a very simple description, “Because “Je suis Charlie” has become the symbol of freedom of speech whatever your beliefs, your country and your opinions, download the “I am Charlie” app and simply state where you stand on today’s world map.”

Apple had earlier shown support by adding a Je Suis Charlie banner at the bottom of the Apple French site.
