nest-homeNest is a company that has a couple of different smart home products in its lineup, like a smart thermostat and a smoke detector. When they first started, these products were smart but their uses were limited, but over time Nest has managed to go ahead and forge partnerships with other companies that helped make these smart products even smarter.

Well the good news is that if you were hoping to get more use out of your automated home products, Nest has recently announced that they have partnered up with an additional 15 new companies who will now be part of their “Works with Nest” developer program. Basically what this means is that users will be able to control or see integration of their Nest products within other smart home appliances.

For example one of the companies Nest has teamed up with is Lutron and with the Lutron Caseta Wireless App, users will not only be able to control their lights and shades via the app itself, but will also be able to control their Nest thermostat at the same time. Other companies that Nest has teamed up with include Ooma and Philips.

Ooma will be able to dial out to local emergency services when the Nest Protect detects smoke or CO2, while the Philips Hue light bulbs will start flashing different colors in the event of an emergency. Other companies that will be part of Nest’s Work with Nest program include Insteon, August Smart Lock, Automatic, LG Appliances, Withings, Big Ass Fans, Beep, Chargepoint, OSRAM, Stakc, Whirlpool, and Zuli.
