Xiaomi Mi Note/Mi Note Pro Announced

mi note_2While we can appreciate the engineering marvel of creating incredibly thin yet powerful devices, sometimes some people just prefer a thicker and more hefty device which can sometimes feel better to use. However if you’re all about sleek, you might be interested to learn that Xiaomi has officially announced the Mi Note.

The Mi Note is admittedly one of the prettier phones we’ve seen from Xiaomi to date. It will feature sides made out of metal, and a front and back panel made from Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. In fact it seems that Xiaomi could have taken some design pointers from Apple as the front panel features a gentle curve around the edges while the back packs a slightly more pronounced one.

The phone will feature a 5.7-inch Full HD display and under the hood, it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz. It will also be accompanied by 3GB of RAM, 16/64GB storage options, and will support dual SIM cards. It will come with a 13MP rear-facing camera made by Sony with an aperture of f/2.0 and OIS, while the front-facing camera is of the 4MP variety, although its 2 micron pixel size makes it somewhat identical to the HTC UltraPixel.

So how much will a phone of this caliber cost you? Well given that Xiaomi has been known to price their products affordably, the Mi Note will retail for 2,299 RMB which is roughly $371 for the 16GB model. The 64GB model will go for 2,799 RMB which is around $451 but still very affordable. There is also a Pro model that will sport the same specs, but will come with a Snapdragon 810 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and a QHD display that will retail for 3,299 RMB (~$520).
