BlackBerry Passport Screen Flickering Fix Being Developed

Those who played around with the leaked pre-release builds of BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 on BlackBerry Passport would be well aware of the screen flickering bug. Users noticed that the bug appeared randomly and caused the screen to flicker on and off. There was no discernible pattern here and the bug would simply pop up out of the blue. Last week BlackBerry released OS 10.3.1 publicly and the bug remained so now it affects more people who updated their Passport to the latest release.

Fortunately BlackBerry is aware of the issue and it has been looking into the matter for the past couple of days. The company has been working to figure out just what the cause of this bug is.

BlackBerry Product Manager Michael Clewley has revealed through Twitter that the company has a fix for this issue which it is currently testing. However he doesn’t give a ETA so it can’t be said for sure when this bug will be fixed through a software update.

In the meantime Clewley suggests a daily reset for the BlackBerry Passport which seems to reduce the amount of times the screen flickering bug surfaces.

We’ll keep an eye out for the software update and will let you know as soon as BlackBerry pushes this fix.
