Micromax Unveils Android-powered 4K TVs In India Starting From $640

micromax-4k-tvWhen we think of large TV sets, especially those of the 4K variety, we usually associate those devices with hefty price tags. However last year Xiaomi destroyed that illusion when they unveiled a 49-inch 4K TV for $640, and now it looks like Micromax is following in their footsteps as the company has recently unveiled a series of Android 4K TVs in India which starts at $640 for the cheapest version.

The company has announced two new TVs – a 42-inch model priced at around $640, and a 49-inch model that goes for $800 which is a bit more expensive but still relatively affordable at least when compared to other more popular brands. So what can we expect from Micromax’s TV offerings?

Both models will come preloaded with the Google Play Store and will allow customers access to apps and games and music and movies that would normally be available on the mobile version of the Play Store. Interestingly enough both TVs will run on different builds of Android. The 42-inch model will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and the 49-inch will be powered by Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

The TVs will feature ELED displays and a refresh rate of 60Hz, built-in WiFi connectivity, USB ports, two HDMI ports, AV input, an Ethernet port. It seems unlikely that Micromax will be bringing these TVs stateside, but with those prices we reckon there will be a lot of demand for them.
