ps4-version-2.50-1

Sony is working on the next firmware update for PlayStation 4 and while it has not confirmed what features will be included in this update some information has appeared online which gives us a glimpse of what PS4 firmware 2.50 will have to offer. One of the features included in the update is the ability to backup entire games to an external drive. This according to leaked images that have appeared online.

It was recently reported that Sony was allowing a select few PS4 owners to beta test firmware 2.50 before it’s released for all users. Information about version 2.50 was leaked online by a Twitter user who had a friend that received access to the beta firmware from Sony.

One of the leaked screenshots show that version 2.50 adds the ability to backup games to an external drive. Sony has apparently also made user interface tweaks to the PS4’s operating system.

Those who like to stream Netflix using the PS4, like me, will appreciate that the app will now pick up where you left off instead of rebooting the entire app. This will make it more easier to come back to shows and not be required to find where you had stopped streaming in the previous session.

Some accessibility options will be added through the update as well. These include Invert Colors, Text to Speech, Larger Text, Bold Text, Closed Captions, High Contrast, Button Assignment and Add to Quick Menu.

Sony has not yet said when it will release PS4 version 2.50 to the public.
