It has been revealed in a post by an NVIDIA forum administrator that the Android 5.1 update for SHIELD tablet is going to be released “soon.” If NVIDIA is able to get this update out quickly it may even beat Google to the punch, which is yet to release the Android 5.1 update for its Nexus 9 tablet that’s powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra chip.

The forum administrator writes that the company has taken note of the performance and responsiveness issues that people talked about after the previous OTA update for this tablet was released.

He goes on to say that these issues have been identified and fixed, users will get the fixes in the upcoming OTA update which is also going to upgrade the core OS version to Android 5.1.

So not only will users get these bug fixes, they’ll also receive new features, improved security and an “overall snappier end user experience.”

No confirmed release date has been provided for this update as yet but the forum administrator tells members that they’ll hear more about this update in the coming weeks.

It can’t be said for sure when NVIDIA is going to roll out Android 5.1 but we’ll certainly let you know when it finally starts rolling out.
