A new Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 teaser trailer has been released today which reveals that the upcoming title will be set in the future, so players can expect to use futuristic tech as they participate in wars of the future. Apparently the game is set as far ahead as 2065 which brings cybernetic technology into play.

If you have your fingers crossed for game footage from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, you’ll be disappointed. The teaser trailer doesn’t show any game footage but rather it hints at various biotech advancements that gamers will experience.

This includes retinal implants, DNA upgrades, cybernetic limb replacements and even brain-to-brain connections. The teaser trailer shows how cybernetics advancements will influence the military and even things like health and professional sports. A character in the video says that this technology is “literally turning humans into weapons.”

Multiple references are made in the video to a super soldier program of the U.S. military and the Coalescence Corporation, with a warning that the gravest mistake mankind will ever make will be “its inability to control the technology it has created.”

This time around Treyarch is the studio that’s developing the next Call of Duty title. It will have more details to share about Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on April 26th.
