LG Offering Its Own “Uh-Oh” Protection With The LG G4

lg-g4__leak_kr_30In conjunction with the HTC One M9’s launch, HTC introduced an Uh-Oh protection program which basically offered customers a free phone replacement in the event your screen is cracked or is damaged by water, circumstances in which other OEMs might not give you a replacement as it might not be covered under warranty.

It is a good idea and it certainly offers customers peace of mind, and now it looks like LG could be following in HTC’s footsteps. The company has announced in South Korea (via Pocketnow) that they will be giving the upcoming LG G4 added protection where customers who damage the screens of their handsets will be eligible for free repairs, albeit only once and only while the handset is under warranty.

This isn’t as “generous” compared to the HTC Uh-Oh protection program, but we reckon it’s good enough. Typically OEMs usually see cracked or damaged displays as the fault of its user and will not cover screen replacements under its warranty, same with water damage, so for LG to offer such a service is better than nothing.

However it is unclear if this generosity will be extended to other countries and markets that the LG G4 will be launched in as the announcement was made for South Korea. In any case we expect we will learn more about what LG has in store for us come 28th of April so check back with us then for the details.
