Photojojo Wants To Turn Your iPhone Into A Disposable Camera, Sort Of

The joys of using a digital camera or your phone to take photos is that you can take as many photos as you like (as long as you have enough memory) without worrying about wasting film, something that kids these days might not be familiar with. However for those that do, there is a bit of nostalgia in the excitement of seeing how your photos developed, and being careful with your shots.

Now while film cameras are still around and are still being used, Photojojo thinks that that logic can be applied to smartphones and has since released their Disposable Camera app for the iPhone. How the app works is that the app itself is a free download, however users will have to pay $12.99 for a roll of “film” which consists of 27 shots. Every shot you take reduces that count and users won’t be able to see what kind of photos they’ve taken either, at least until it’s been printed.

Once you’re done with the 27 shots, you can then get Photojojo to print them out for you and send it to your home which should arrive in 10 days. Now it sounds a little bit silly, not to mention expensive, but according to Photojojo’s Laurel Sittig who spoke to Cult of Mac, “We’ve seen a sharp decline in the shoeboxes full of prints that had been accumulating under our beds and wanted to bring back prints, glorious prints.”

“We wanted to recreate the feeling of having 27 potential prints burning a hole in your pocket. It puts you on the lookout for the next great shot and makes each snap of the shutter that much more deliberate.” Now we’re not sure how many people will be going for this, but it sounds like an interesting idea for those who like having their digital photos printed.
