Samsung Galaxy S6 Found To Be Difficult To Repair

Generally speaking the harder a phone is to repair, the more expensive the shop will charge you for it, assuming that you are no longer covered by warranty. That being said, how does the new Samsung Galaxy S6 fare in terms of repairability? As it turns out this is a phone you’ll want to take care of as the folks at iFixit have given the Galaxy S6 a 4 out of 10 in terms of repairability.

iFixit has praised Samsung for the modular nature of their components stating that this made replacing them independently easier, although they had issues with some components of the phone, such as the glass panels on the exterior part of the phone which were glued rather strongly. This made them harder to get the device open, not to mention the added force could result in it breaking.

They also note that chances are if you want to replace the glass covering the screen of the Galaxy S6, you might have to end up replacing the entire display as well, stating that, “Replacing the glass without destroying the display is probably impossible.” There are some redeeming qualities and that unlike the Galaxy S6 Edge, the battery can be replaced without removing the motherboard, however the strong adhesive does make it a bit tougher than it needs to be.

In any case its low repairability score aside, the Galaxy S6 has been found to be a very good phone in terms of performance and design. In fact reports have claimed that Samsung is struggling to keep up with the demand for their new phones which is a problem we’re sure many OEMs are more than happy to have.
