Native App Development Headed To Apple Watch

gold apple watchAin’t it grand to be a dog that has not one, but two gold Apple Watch editions? Well, having said that, the rest of us ordinary people who have to slog through the week just to scrape up enough money to get by might be pleased to hear that native app development will be making its way to the Apple Watch platform in a future SDK (Software Development Kit) update. This started off as a rumor, before being confirmed by Apple senior vice president of operations Jeff Williams as he made this particular announcement at the Re/Code annual Code Conference.

Right now, there are no third party apps that reside on the Apple Watch, as such third party apps will run on the paired iPhone and instead communicate with the Apple Watch, as the latter shows off the user interface while sending user input to the iPhone via Bluetooth. This will result in a far poorer performance between third party apps and Apple’s native apps, and thankfully, with word of a future SDK update, all of this lag should then be consigned to the history heap.

As to when the new Apple Watch SDK will be revealed, make a beeline to Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco this coming June 8.
