As Android Wear is not quite as open as Android, Huawei would need to replace Google Services with their very own services before the Huawei Watch can function in China. First introduced at MWC earlier this March, the Huawei Watch has already seen pre-orders launch across several markets in late May, the US included, although China remains out of the list for a summer release.
He Gang, head of Huawei’s smartphone division, claims that the Huawei Watch will only be available in China in September at the earliest, with October another likely month for that to happen, as Huawei works hard to optimize the timepiece for Chinese consumers other than tackling the Android Wear issues. Better late than never, I say.
