Moto X Gets Android 5.1 Lollipop Update

It was just a few days back that we announced how the Moto X (2nd generation model) from Motorola would be on the receiving end of the Android 5.1 Lollipop update over in the US, as it was undergoing a soak test then to make sure that everything else is hunky dory before a full scale release. Well, it looks like everything ran as smoothly as predicted, which is why Verizon has just made available the Android 5.1 Lollipop update to all Motorola Moto X (2nd gen) owners.

Several owners of this smartphone have already claimed to have picked up the update, and this particular update does bring with it one very important tweak (among many others, of course), and that would be Factory Reset Protection. Basically, the moment there is a Google account that has been set on the Moto X (2nd), similar login credentials would be required in order for it to reset the handset to its factory settings.

In other words, should your device end up lost or stolen in a mishap, everything inside, theoretically speaking, should remain locked and any kind of unauthorized reactivations will be prevented. There will also be new interruption controls thrown into the mix that will let you manage missed alarms and reschedule them, in addition to new Volume settings panel icons and pull-down controls when it comes to Wi-Fi/Bluetooth devices selection.
