Apple Reportedly Playing It Safe With 12.9 Inch iPad Pro

For over a year now it has been reported time and time again that Apple is working on a larger iPad. Initially there was some confusion regarding the display size but now the rumor mill seems to have agreed upon 12.9 inch as the iPad Pro’s display size. So far the company itself has not said anything about a larger tablet but if reports are to be believed, Apple is playing it very safe with initial orders for this device.

Sources from the upstream supply chain reveal to Digitimes that components for the 12.9 inch iPad Pro are expected to start shipping in late September with the device itself coming to market after mid-November.

It is further claimed that since Apple is rather cautious about placing related orders the initial shipment volume is going to be much lower than previously expected.

Foxconn is said to be the manufacturing partner for this product which won’t surprise many since it’s Apple’s long-time manufacturing partner.

Apple is expected to target the larger iPad more towards the enterprise and education sectors where demand for larger tablets exists, obviously it’s going to cost much more than what the base model of the iPad Air 2 goes for right now.

The November launch timeframe does make sense since new iPads always follow the new iPhones a couple of months later, Apple traditionally releases new iPhones in September and it’s expected to stick with the script this time around as well.
