Over the past few week we have been hearing that Samsung is working on a new smartphone, a feature-packed mid-range device that just might be the thinnest smartphone that the company has ever created. Much has already been said and written about the Galaxy A8 and while Samsung has not yet confirmed when the handset will be released, according to a new report the Galaxy A8 is going to be released in China initially come July 17th.

Just yesterday several photos of the Galaxy A8 were leaked online showing the device off in all its glory, it’s going to be 5.94mm thin and will thus wear the crown of being Samsung’s thinnest smartphone to date.

Nowhereelse.fr reports today that the Galaxy A8 is going to be released in China first on July 17th, it’s said to cost around $490.

Recent reports suggest that the handset features a 5.7 inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with an octacore Snapdragon 615 processor underneath coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage.

There’s a microSD card slot, 16 megapixel ISOCELL rear camera, 5 megapixel front camera, a 3,050mAh battery and Android 5.1 Lollipop. A fingerprint sensor may also be present.

Samsung is likely to offer the device in black, white and gold colors at launch. The company is yet to confirm the launch date, and whether or not the handset is going to make it to any other markets outside of China.
