There are some games out there which should fall under the “weird” category, as they simply cannot be classified as one of the more traditional titles. Having said that, Katamari Damacy happens to be one of such titles, where the word “insane” can even be used to describe it. Basically, this game involves the player to roll a ball around, and this particular ball will then pick items up along the way – which in turn makes the ball bigger, and then you can capture even larger items due to the size of the ball, until you can even capture Godzilla, now how about that? What makes the game so memorable is the method in the madness, in addition to some really weird characters as well as a musical ditty that gets stuck in your brain. It looks like there is a new game known as Tap My Katamari which will be released as a 2D side-scroller, where it has also been described as an “action puzzle game.”
This will not be the first attempt at a Katamari game on the mobile platform, as the previous outing arrived in the form of I Love Katamari. I Love Katamari, however, did not really take off as expected and surely was a blot in the record books when you compare it to the kind of reception that the game received on the portable console platform. Perhaps it was ported prior to the smartphone platform being mature enough to handle such titles back in December 2008, as it suffered from camera and control issues. Hopefully Tap My Katamari will be able to achieve huge success!
