United Front Games has confirmed that the Sleeping Dogs multiplayer spin-off Triad Wars isn’t even going to make it out of the beta stage. Triad Wars is going to be shut down on January 20th, 2016. Sleeping Dogs itself has a very passionate fan base and many were waiting to see what UFG did with the multiplayer spin-off, well it has decided to not pursue it altogether.

United Front Games wanted to cash in on the success of Sleeping Dogs by releasing a multiplayer spin-off called Triad Wars, it was to be set inside the same universe, and even though it has been in beta since earlier this year it didn’t prove to be as good as UFG wanted it to be.

The developer has confirmed through a post on its official forums that Triad Wars will bite the dust on January 20th, 2016 at 10 pm PT. The game is going to remain active until then and all real money transactions will be disabled completely.

United Front Games also said that any players who spent release money to purchase in-game currency which they haven’t already used will be able to claim a refund, it’s going to detail the refund process at a later stage.

Triad Wars was never really positioned as a sequel to Sleeping Dogs, even though many fans were hoping for a sequel instead, but they’re not even going to get the multiplayer spin-off now. No word from UFG on how it plans to go on from here as far as a Sleeping Dogs sequel is concerned.
