The kind of contraband that 25-year old Thaddeus Shortz attempted to smuggle included drugs, pornography, tobacco and a cellphone – and to think that he made the attempt by targeting a maximum-security prison, which is certainly close to the impossible level on the challenge scale. Shortz was caught by police while he was outside the prison in his pickup truck, and the authorities hauled up $35,000 worth of contraband along the way.
We suppose that this daring attempt could also be attributed to the fact that Shortz was somewhat familiar with the prison’s layout, having served time for assault there before. Shortz will be sentenced later this month with a possible maximum sentence of 51 years, and this is not a lone wolf operation as Shortz’s co-defendant is still awaiting trial.
