Samsung To Use Own Touchscreen Digitizer For The Galaxy S7

samsung logoOne of the advantages that Samsung has over the competition is that they make a fair amount of hardware that goes into their phones. For example the display is a perfect example, and also its processor like we saw in 2015’s Galaxy S6 series. That being said, a report from ETNews (via SamMobile) has indicated that Samsung will be taking things one step further.

The report claims that Samsung has plans to use its own touchscreen digitizer for the upcoming Galaxy S7 series of smartphones. Apparently Samsung has been developing its own digitizer for the past 3 years and it looks like they are now ready to start using it in their own products, although the report claims that for now it will only be used in the Galaxy S7 lineup.

Prior to this, Samsung had relied on companies like Synaptics and ST Microelectronics to provide them with its digitizers. It is unclear how this change might affect the device’s performance, but from Samsung’s point of view, this could mean that producing their phones will now be cheaper since they are making it themselves.

Hopefully this won’t have too big of an impact on the phone’s usage or performance, but we’ll have to wait and get the phone into our hands first in order to find out.
