Now that Hideo Kojima has up and left Konami, it’s really anyone’s guess as to what is the future of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Konami will probably churn out more games, but we reckon it might be a while. That being said, in the meantime we wouldn’t be opposed if a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid was in the cards.

This might just be wishful thinking, at least on the official front, but on the unofficial front, it looks like a Metal Gear Solid fan by the name of Airam Hernandez has decided to do something about it by recreating the game using the Unreal Engine 4. The project is dubbed Shadow Moses and it seems to be coming along at a pretty nice pace.

So far we love what Hernandez has done with the game so far. Given that the original Metal Gear Solid was released in 1998, this is what we reckon the game could look like if it were remade. Now if you’re worried about Konami potentially shutting this project down, which they are well within their rights to do, it seems that Hernandez is in contact with them.

According to a post on Facebook, Hernandez is working with another person by the name of Dan Meadowcroft, who not only handles the music for the project, but is apparently in talks with Konami. We’re not sure if this means Konami has given the project their blessing, but it does sound like maybe they’re trying to get the greenlight. In any case you can check out his progress in the video above.
