Samsung Could Launch Upgrade Program With The Galaxy S7

When Apple launched the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus last year, they also introduced an upgrade program which basically allows iPhone customers to upgrade their phones on an annual basis. This effectively locks customers into the iPhone ecosystem as the payments are done in 24 month installment periods.

Now according to a report from ETNews (via Android Central), it has been rumored that Samsung could be thinking of following suit and might announce a similar program during the launch of the Galaxy S7, which right now has been speculated to take place in February, possibly during MWC 2016.

That being said, such a move would not be completely out of the question. Carriers have long been introducing upgrade programs for years, so the only real difference here is that it will most probably benefit customers who might prefer to purchase their hands directly from Samsung, as opposed to purchasing it on some kind of plan from a carrier.

It is unclear if this upgrade program will be exactly like Apple’s, or if Samsung might have their own spin on it. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but fans of Samsung out there might want to check back with us in the coming months to see this has become official.
