Analysts Think LG Could Ship 10 Million LG G5 Units This year

lg-g5_hands-on_23The LG G5 was officially announced at MWC 2016, and while you might just assume it is just another flagship handset, the LG G5 is certainly a change of pace for the company. For starters not only has LG employed a new design, but the company has also introduced modular components.

This allows users to swap out batteries for even larger batteries, or a camera grip, or even a Hi-Fi module. While modular phones definitely aren’t new, especially with Project Ara being around, it is safe to say that LG is one of the first few companies to come onto the market with such features. This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that analysts are pretty optimistic about LG’s success.

According to Jefferson Wang, an analyst for the IBB Consulting Group, he believes that the changes and features in the LG G5 will be enough where LG could potentially ship as many as 10 million units in 2016 alone. Of course shipping numbers aren’t the same as sale figures, but it would signify demand and 10 million is no small feat.

Other analysts have suggested that in order for LG to succeed with the LG G5, they will need to start pushing the marketing of the phone. Another analyst Jeff Fieldhack who is the research director of Counterpoint has suggested that the device could be popular enough to help LG steal more market share away from the likes of HTC, Sony, and Microsoft, but what do you guys think? Are you planning on getting the new LG G5?
