Microsoft Launches New Wireless Display Adapter

Last year Microsoft launched a new accessory that allowed users to wirelessly display anything from a Miracast-enabled device, be it a laptop or a smartphone, to a big screen like an HDTV. The accessory is called Microsoft Wireless DIsplay Adapter and it doesn’t rely on specific apps to display content. Anything and everything can be streamed to the big TV via Miracast. Microsoft today launched a new version of the adapter.

The company says that it heard great feedback about the device particularly from students and professionals who appreciate the fact that the device is small, easy to use and that it doesn’t require the internet to work.

The fact that it doesn’t require the internet to work means that you can plug it into a hotel room TV and do work on the big screen or just enjoy your favorite movie. Companies can plug the adapter in their overhead projectors and eliminate the need for multiple cords to hook up their PCs to the projector.

Microsoft’s new Wireless Display Adapter has all the features of the first generation while improvements have been made to reduce latency. The new adapter also allows users to mirror or extend their screen from Miracast-enabled Windows 10 smartphones, tablets and tablets.

Customers in the United States and Canada can now pre-order the new adapter for $49.95 from the Microsoft Store, Best Buy and Amazon. Shipments begin March 1st. Microsoft will release this accessory in other markets soon.
