Yahoo has announced a new global and strategic partnership with the PGA Tour today which will enable it to deliver live, free and on-demand video content to golf fans across the globe. It will provide all of that content for free so viewers will not need authentication or subscription to access the content. It’s kicking things off by enabling viewers to stream the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament.

It’s now possible to stream Featured Holes coverage from PGA Tour Live during the early rounds of the tournaments, like the FedExCup Playoffs and The Players Championship. The stream will be available across the globe for free.

PGA Tour Live is the PGA Tour’s new service that features premium and free live video content from more than 30 events every year, Yahoo is going to tap into that and only stream the Featured Holes coverage for free.

It’s also going to offer global access to video on demand PGA Tour content such as highlights and original content from tournaments. Yahoo has also launched a live, co-branded PGA Tour leaderboard that details play-by-play, shot-by-shot graphics, VOD and live audio.

This will make a good addition to Yahoo’s digital sports offering and it certainly doesn’t hurt that golf fans can take advantage of this partnership right away.
