Recently it seems that a man in Chicago has been charged for using a cell phone jammer on the subway. Apparently he was sick of people yammering on their phones all day while he commuted, so he was hoping a cell phone jammer would put an end to that. Interestingly enough according to fellow commuters, this has been going on since 2014.
The man in question, Dennis Nicholl, has since been charged and is being held on bail set at $10,000. Nicholl apparently knew that the device was illegal, but kept at it anyway. It was only when a fellow passenger called 911 which was when the police got involved. It was only after a sting was setup that they managed to nab him.
We suppose you could argue that what he’s doing was done with good intentions, but at the same time we can only imagine how inconvenient it must have been for passengers, some of whom might be trying to make urgent calls out.
