BlackBerry Priv Marshmallow Beta Arriving Today

The Priv is BlackBerry’s first Android-powered handset, it came with Android 5.0 Lollipop preinstalled, and now it’s ready to run Marshmallow. A few days back the company opened up a beta testing program for this update for Priv owners and today it’s rolling out the first Priv Marshmallow update beta to testers. The beta test will aid BlackBerry in ironing out any bugs in the software before it releases Marshmallow for everybody.

This is going to be a phased release even for beta program members. BlackBerry is going to send out the Marshmallow beta to a small number of beta testers initially and if they report no major problems with the update it will then send it out for more beta testers.

The company says that it’s aiming to release the Priv Marshmallow update beta for all devices that have been registered in the program by Sunday, April 16th. Priv owners who have not yet signed up to take part in the beta program can do so here but BlackBerry is likely to put new registrants on a waiting list as it slowly builds up the beta program.

BlackBerry hasn’t confirmed how long it’s going to run the beta program for but one can speculate that it won’t take more than a couple of weeks so we can realistically expect Marshmallow to be out for all Priv owners by next month.
